Important notes
- GREAT CareShield can be purchased by CareShield Life (CSHL) or ElderShield (ESH) policyholders.
- If purchased by ESH policyholders before the transfer of ESH to Government administration, GREAT CareShield will be considered as an ESH Supplement regulated under the CPF (Withdrawals for ElderShield Scheme) Regulations.
- If purchased by ESH policyholders after the transfer of ESH to Government administration or by CSHL policyholders, GREAT CareShield will be considered as a CSHL Supplement regulated under the CareShield Life and Long-Term Care Act.
A few points to note before you buy
- Anyone who pays for, or is insured under GREAT CareShield is not eligible for Additional Premium Support (APS) from the Government.* If you are currently receiving APS to pay for your MediShield Life and/or CareShield Life premiums, and you choose to be insured under this GREAT CareShield, you will stop receiving APS. This applies even if you are not the person paying for this GREAT CareShield. In addition, if you choose to be insured under this GREAT CareShield, the person paying for GREAT CareShield will stop receiving APS, if he or she is currently receiving APS.
* APS is for families who need assistance with MediShield Life and/or CareShield Life premiums, even after receiving premium subsidies and making use of MediSave to pay for these premiums.
- You can pay the premium for GREAT CareShield using your own CPF MediSave account. The maximum MediSave deduction is 600 SGD for each life assured in each calendar year only. If you use your CPF MediSave account to pay for your premium, you may still need to top up the excess via credit card.
- This is a health insurance product.
- There is a 60-day free-look period after you've received the policy contract.
- It is usually detrimental to replace an existing health plan with a new one. If you do so, you may incur an early termination penalty and the new plan may cost more, or have fewer benefits at the same cost.
- The premium rates for this policy may be subject to adjustment. We will inform you of any adjustment before you renew your policy.
- You can request our financial representatives or customer service officers to explain the product features to you.
- You may wish to separately seek advice on the suitability of this policy.
